Personal Statement
I have been swimming since I was six years old and have always strived to compete at the next level. I am deeply passionate about swimming and to be able to challenge myself against other top-tier athletes in college would be a dream come true.
My freshman year in high school, I joined my school team and instantly fell in love with the sport all over again. However, at our city championship, we suffered a crushing defeat, losing the by a mere 4 points. I felt personally responsible because I was chosen to represent my team as one of the two 500 freestyle swimmers, yet failed to earn any points. I could not settle for mediocrity; I had to push myself harder after my defeat. The following year, I was chosen to compete in the 200 freestyle (finishing 3rd), 100 backstroke (finishing 1st), and the 400 freestyle relay (finishing 2nd) at city championships. In total, I earned 8 points for the team and played a crucial role in beating the runner-up school to earn the title of City Champions.
I am very lucky to be attending one of the best high schools in New York as well as being a member of the top PSAL (Public School Athletic League 2016-2017) swim team in the city. I would like to find the best college for myself, where I can continue to learn, compete, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
