Personal Statement

As a student athlete, I strive to earn good grades and dedicate myself to becoming a better athlete every day.  I conduct myself with honor and respect in and out of the pool.  I am currently a member of my high school Varsity Swim team. I made the team in 7th grade, an accomplishment I am proud of to this day.  I am a determined athlete and student, I take much pride in my studies and compete at my highest potential.  I have qualified for Suffolk County Championships every year of my Varsity tenure. My Varsity team has had several years of All League Championships and undefeated seasons.  The times when my team did not make championships is when I feel we grew stronger as a team through adversity and teamwork.

I have also been a member of Islanders Aquatics Swim Club and a member of USA Swimming from the age of 8 years old.  All the hours spent in the pool, the will to work hard, to push myself harder and harder everyday, this is why I swim.  I spend two hours a day with my swim club which gives me structure, balance and determination to be better and faster everyday.  Time spent in the pool has taught me many lessons,  the patience it takes to drop a millisecond so you can make championships, the grueling work while you are exhausted and the drive it takes to push yourself to reach your goals. I owe this all to my favorite sport, swimming.

I thank you for the opportunity to fulfill my goal for swimming at college level and at the same time achieve my academic goals.  Thank you for your consideration, I look forward to meeting you.
