Personal Statement
My name is Ethan White.
I currently swim for Team Charlotte Swimming (TCS), the Windrow Neighborhood team, and Butler High School team. In practice, I'm always excited for a challenge. I like to push myself to my limits and see the results. I'm willing to make personal sacrifices in order to achieve my goals. I am willing to step out of my comfort zone to achieve more. Academics, of course, are my top priority when searching for a college, but as an aspiring NCAA champion, I spend all of my free time in the pool.
My outlook on life includes being the best person, scholar, and athlete I can be. I'm proud to have a 4.3/4.0 weighted GPA, I take my studies very seriously. I also take my training seriously, and even in a pandemic, I try to swim 5 to 6 days per week, and participate in weight training whenever it is offered. I have spent time perfecting my technique with a private coach, as well.
What's unique about me is that I discovered my passion for competitive swimming later than my peers, so I have had to work more than twice as hard to compete with those peers. In regular discussions with my coach, he recognizes that I put in extra work and time; This year, I exceeded all of my goals that I set for the competitive year. I'm exceptionally proud that in each and every meet, I am able to achieve personal best times. This year, I was able to qualify for our team's hosted championship meet, the NC Champs meet, and I most recently qualified for Speedo Sectionals.
I am very close to a Jr. Nationals time in 100 back, so that is my main focus for this season.
