Personal Statement
At first I hated the water as a child, but somehow I learned to love the water and competitive swimming. After competing for about two years, I ran into a problem in my life. I broke my right arm after falling off of a hoverboard onto the cement. I had to take the rest of the season off for recovery, as well as the summer season. My competitive swimming experience started when my friends convinced me to try out for the swim team. I never planned on swimming competitively for this long, not expecting to enjoy it. But I turned out liking the water and atmosphere of competitions. As I grew up, my parents always taught me to never give up on things that I am passionate about, which has helped me in the long run especially with swimming. Throughout my six years of swimming, I have helped break 4 team relay records. In addition, I have qualified for Zone Championships with relay teams, as well as AA Championships for my personal events.
Throughout my swimming career so far, I have learned that the more I push myself, the faster I get. While also learning that some things will get better over time, so you have to be okay with that and allow it to happen itself. Going farther than swimming, in life and yourself, discipline and effort will improve your results. For the rest of my highschool career and swimming career, I hope to stay on honor roll and go to college to major in pre medicine. I enjoy the sciences and I’d like to be able to help people. I hope to continue as a competitive swimmer throughout high school and college.
