As I started off in swimming at the age of 8, I focused hard in improving my technique with the help of my swim coaches and a senior swimmer who gave my brother and I extra lessons. With their help, I was fortunate enough to attain almost every Belleville Beast Swim Team Record for the 10 and Under Age Group Short Course and Long Course, as well as the majority of 11-12 year old Short Course Records. Then, Covid hit, which abruptly stopped our training sessions and created a difficult time where I could not pursue my swimming passion. This past year, as we resumed our training, many of my fellow swimmers have had their growth spurt earlier than myself, and I have found myself not ranking as high as previously. However, I continue to work hard at improving my technique and striving to be faster and stronger. I understand that perseverance and hard work will help me attain my goal to be a top level swimmer in the future. These qualities were recognized by my coach this past June. I was honored to receive from my Coach, Brandon Oates, the top award for the team. It is called The Paula Stephanson Award who is a Canadian swimmer that swam across all 5 Great Lakes. The Award is "Presented to a Member of the Belleville Beast Swim Team for their Perseverance and Dedication to the Sport of Swimming". I realize that I will have to work hard to be accepted into a top level swim team, but with the help of my current coaches, and hopefully with your help, I can achieve my goal of becoming a top level competitive swimmer. Thank you for considering me.
