My name is Conor McKeirnan and I am a Sophomore at Hollidaysburg Area High school in Pennsylvania. I have been swimming club swim for the YMCA since I was four years old and this is my second high school swim season. Starting at seven years old when I broke the local YMCA record for the 25 yard Backstroke, I continue to achieve success in the pool including breaking the 200 yard Freestyle school record this year with a 1:48.05. I have been recognized as First Team Allstar for our region as a Freshman with CWAAC top times in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Individual Medley, 100 Butterfly, 100 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, and 400 Freestyle Relay. I have also been recognized as Athlete of the Year as a Freshman and Sophomore for our region. I have qualified for State Championships eight years running for YMCA and I have qualified for District Championships Freshman and Sophomore year for high school; I am looking to qualify for State Championships for high school at the end of the current season. I placed sixth overall out of over 130 boys for the 15-16 boys 100 yard Freestyle at the 2017 56th Annual Pitt Invitational meet with a 48.50. As a USA swimmer, I qualified to attend the first ever Bob Bowman 2016 Holiday Swim Camp at Arizona State University as a Freshman where I got to spend three days being personally coached by Bob Bowman, Ryan Mallam, Derek Schmitt, and swimmers on the Arizona Sun Devils swim team. I also attended the 2016 Starts and Turns Penn State University swim camp where I spent two days being coached by the Penn State Head Swimming Coach Tim Murphy and by the swimmers on the Penn Sate swim team.
Academically, I'm in the gifted program which has allowed me to expand on my overall education and creative abilities. Through this program, I have been able to be a part of Continental Math League testing, to take extra years of foreign language, and to explore future career goals with my advisors. In addition, I have been able to create and be the owner of an internationally known entrepreneurial business. I started this business on a social media platform in the fall of 2016 and I have been recognized and interviewed by Insider, Vice, Buzzfeed Japan, Buzzfeed, H&M, and Jimmy Kimmel Live by the summer of 2017 with a following of more than 350 thousand online. I have taken all of the highest courses for my grade level every year including an AP (advanced placement) class this year. I have a 4.0 overall GPA and am involved in the Music Department, Art Club, and Model UN.
My goal is to swim for a Division I or Division II school that will be suitable for my educational goals. I want to swim on a team that can introduce me to different aspects of swimming and further progress my skills. I am always up for any levels of training and there is never a time where I don't have a lot of room for improvement and to overall better myself. As an athlete and student, I am responsible, flexible, and altogether recruitable.
