Personal Statement
As a rising senior at Millikan High School in Long Beach, CA, I look forward to not only being the fastest swimmer, but also the co-captain of my high school team. I have progressed to become a member of my varsity swim team and the Golden West Swim Club in Huntington Beach, CA. I’ve been privileged to be given an excellent educational foundation that I hope to build on as I move on to college. I’m particularly strong in STEM-related subjects, but I also excel in foreign languages and hope to earn a double major or minor in East Asian studies. My personal goal is to find a school that will continue to challenge me both academically in the classroom and athletically in the pool.
I’m also looking forward to my training throughout the remainder of 2022 and into the 2023 swim season. I am hyper-dedicated to training because I believe I can achieve long-term personal swimming goals that I have set for my high school career. I strongly believe that both our high school’s 46-year old 100 Fly and 36-year old 200 IM records are well within my reach. Swimming has served as a fantastic outlet for my fierce inner competitive drive. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished on my team so far, and I’m excited to improve even more next year.
