Derek Hahn D10 Ch...Personal Statement
Hi! My Name is Derek Hahn and I am a Senior at Warren Area High School in Warren, Pennsylvania.
Though my team any myself faced many troubles and restrictions due to Covid-19, we all were able to power through it and make this past year one for the books.
Swimming makes me feel fantastic and has helped prepare me for the future. Through swimming: my organization has improved, I am able to find many of my things easier having a certain place for them to be; I am able to create and stay on track of a schedule; I am able to make a list of things that I need or need to bring with me to certain activities; I am able to communicate with people better: asking for help, making new friends, encouraging others in order to achieve goals, and answering questions; and I am able to set goals and compete to achieve them.
Out of swim, I try to keep myself busy: I have a weekend job working in the kitchen at Bent Run Brewing, I ride my mountain bike on local trails and my road bike around town (working on a Century Ride), acting or volunteering in shows in my school and my local theater, playing piano within my piano club (Philomel Club) and attending recitals at local nursing homes, Singing and dancing at schools and nursing homes within a group called Youth Connection, and playing the piano and xylophone in my marching band and jazz band.
