My collegiate goals and aspirations will remain constant with the values and principles I currently employ to guide my actions and behavior. I currently attempt to understand the environment in which I exist. I determine how to participate in these surroundings and conditions. I try to make positive constructive decisions that maximize my participation. I attempt to avoid making bad decisions that will have future deleterious consequences.
I am a good candidate for a college team because I feel I can envision and assist accomplishing the goals and objectives of the entire team while simultaneously striving for personal excellence. I feel that winning is not an end in itself. The discipline in preparation (practice; diet; personal behavior; respecting one’s body; etc.) and all efforts to be your best creates a positive self-image and will lead to success
What makes you different from other recruits in character, athletics and academics? I am looking for a college that will provide personal maturity, growth and balance academically. Athletically I am searching for a college swimming program renowned for ethical and dependable behavior at both the competitive and personal (off the field) level. I have competed to the best of my ability while adhering to the spirit and letter of the rules. I attempt to provide team leadership and sportsmanship in an unobtrusive manner.
I have been personally exposed to highly competitive athletic events (my mother is an accomplished tennis player). I have observed competitive tennis matches and understand the meaning of respecting one's opponent, acceptance of victory with humility; and acknowledgment of defeat with grace. These observations have helped me use these same traits in my competitive swimming!
