Personal Statement
As a high school swimmer, I have learned about the importance of hard-work and dedication. However, I have also had to embrace the environment of a closely-knit team and the camaraderie that comes with it. This makes me a great fit for a college swim team as I understand how crucial it is to not only work for yourself, but also for those around you. As an athlete, I have participated in a variety of sports, including ice hockey and soccer, both of which are team sports, which further backs up my ability to function as an integral part of a team.
In terms of swimming, I am proficient in many events which can allow me to fill in for any missing roles on a college swim team; this can be helpful during duel meets where points in every event matter. I have been quoted by many coaches from a variety of sports as being "coach-able" which can help create a strong relationship with my mentors.
Academically, I rank at the top of my class and keep a consistently high GPA. This prevents the risk of not meeting the grade requirements to participate in NCAA athletics, which in turn means that I would be a reliable asset. As a sophomore, I scored well on my PSAT showing my capability of performing on standardized tests.
I feel that I am a natural leader but also can listen to my teammates and coaches. This makes me a great candidate for any college swim team.
