Garrett Dierkhising '17 Recruiting Profile

As a swimmer, I thrive in competitive atmospheres and want to be surrounded by teammates that push each other to surpass their goals.  I am looking for a coach who can mold me into a more competitive swimmer so I can be a beneficial asset for his or her team. The geographic location of a university or college is not as important to me as the character of my teammates and the backing of its coaching staff and faculty.

Education is as important to me as my swimming.  An institution that can provide the tools and knowledge necessary for me to succeed outside of the pool is vital as I explore my future. I believe that the best athletes shouldn’t be the ones that only stand out on the field, but also in the classroom, as they are the most well rounded people.

I am looking for a campus environment that is energetic and driven. I like to be a leader and pursue my goals in and out of the water. I love swimming and I’m very driven in the sport. I will also try to push my teammates to reach their goals. I love the idea of making history and memories, along with new friends.

I would like to pursue the career of physical therapy and help others out in the future.
