Personal Statement
My name is Gavin Gerwick and I am going into my junior year at Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy. I am in the National Honor Society. My education and academic goals are at the top of my priorities as I finish high school and move into my college career. My Christian faith motivates me to have a passion for helping others. Last year, I did a mission trip to Guatemala and enjoyed helping kids in an orphanage and installing clean water systems for families. In my spare time, I like hanging out with my family and friends.
I started summer league swimming when I was six years old and went to year-around swimming when I was eight. When I was eleven, I chose to leave swimming with the desire to try other sports. I played football, basketball, and ran cross country over those three years. I returned to swimming my freshman year with more appreciation, desire, and hunger to excel in the sport. Bouncing back from the time off, I was patient and redeveloped a daily mindset to improve and set my own pace. Through my commitment, I have dropped tons of time all around and have moved up three groups since the start of high school and have now reached the National group on SSAN, my club team. I also competed at the TAPPS State Championships my Freshman and Sophomore year for Legacy for swim and cross country. My swim results were 2nd place in the 100 backstroke both years and 4th in the 200 Free for both years as well. I continue to set new goals and strive daily to be my best which will prepare me for my future college swimming career.
