Personal Statement
I have been swimming since I was 5 years old. I feel the most comfortable when I'm in the water. When I first began swimming, it was just for the fun of it. As I grew, I wanted to get faster and faster so I began swimming competitively. I love competing and always push myself to do better than the last time I was in the water. Swimming is my passion and where I feel at home. Swimming has been a constant in my life and I can't imagine living without it.
I'm a very good candidate for a team, because I contribute to the team in enthusiasm, support, and giving it my all. I don't consider myself a lone wolf, but a contributor to the wolf pack. We are better when we have a collective goal and motivation to represent our best for our team, our self and family. I am currently the captain of my high school swim team. I take a lot of responsibility in keeping the team focused and motivated. I assist the coach in directing workouts and do my absolute best to set a good example at the pool, but also at school and in my community.
It is my quest to be the absolute best I can be wherever I am and whatever I'm doing. Maintaining balance in my life is extremely important. Intellectually, I work extremely hard to maintain a high academic GPA ever since I can remember. I have scored well on standardized tests, Physically, I am extremely fit and workout in and out of the water approximately 3-4 hours/day. I am a ranking Eagle Scout and have earned over 45 merit badges. I contribute to my community with service on a regular basis and take pride in my city and country. I am an active member in my church and hold high morals and values. I also know how to work hard and be a leader. I was the Lead Lifeguard for my community pool this last summer and have worked as a lifeguard for many years. I am Red Cross lifeguard and swim instructor certified.
I am a great student athlete that will be an asset to the team, the school and community. Not only do I want to make a difference, I want to BE the difference.
