Hello, my name is Diego Galvez, and I am a 17 year old senior at Oakton High School in Vienna, Virginia.
I started swimming with York swim club in 8th grade at the age of 14. Before joining swim, I was a competitive gymnast. I began my swimming career because I wanted to live up to the example of my older sister, and I have stuck with it because this sport teaches invaluable life lessons and creates long lasting relationships. Swimming has grown to become a large part of my life and has taught me leadership skills with younger swimmers, and how determination and good work ethic pay off in practice.
I believe I can bring a lot to a college swim team because no matter the setback, I find a way to succeed in the face of adversity. Not only that, I have a lot of leadership skills and love helping others succeed. At the end of the day, I believe I am an exceptional candidate for college swimming because I bring more to the table than my times, I bring my team playing, hard working, and attitude.
