What makes me a unique swimmer is that I am very fresh to the sport. I swam for a recreational team over the summer my whole life, but I have only swam for a club team since the beginning of my sophomore year of high school. I wanted to swim club from the time I was about seven or eight, but my parents wanted to make sure I did not specialize too early. Because of this, I tried everything under the sun, from ballet to baseball to water polo. My freshman year, I realized that I had never enjoyed a sport as much as high school swim, and my parents finally let me swim club the following year.
While many athletes my age are already half burnt out, I am only just getting started with my career, and I am full of drive and enthusiasm. These are the qualities that I can bring to a team: I am excited to race my team mates in practice every day, to learn something new every day, and to get faster every time I get in a pool. I know that on the right team, I will be more than just a successful athlete, I will help bring everyone else up around me as well.
