Personal Statement
Since I was a 4th grader, I've wanted to swim in college. Since then, It's been my goal from that point on to get as fast as possible. I have always wanted to be the best I can be at whatever I do and swimming was no exception. Once I began to focus my time and energy into swimming, I learned just how much work it takes to get better, but this struggle has taught me a lot about never giving up and pushing through barriers in and out of the pool. Making the commitment to swimming has benefited me not only in times, but in character as well. Swimming taught me to learn from my mistakes and to lose gracefully. It has also taught me the importance of leadership and how to not push others down, but lift them up. Swimming has molded me into a leader, optimist, and a hard worker.
Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to be a part of various swim teams which helped me learn a lot about friendship and teamwork. I am looking for a program that fits me athletically, academically, and gives me a sense of teamwork and unity. I hope to excel at a college that elevates my mind and body, not just my body. I know I have the talent, versatility, and leadership to make an immediate and helpful impact on any swim team. As a prospective athlete, I know I would make a great addition to your team!
