Personal Statement
Tennis hasn't been apart of all of my life. I'm not one of those kids who picked up a racket when they were three or even during the main years of middle school. But that 8th grade year, my friends influence me to try it out, and I'm thankful for having Coach Smith, a local and only private coach in Brewton, to teach me. 2 years from then, in 10th grade, me and my doubles partner would go on to the state finals for the first time!
I'm not the best tennis player you can find; there are plenty of better players than me, but I'm relentless. I'm persistent. I'm so stubborn that I could never give up any dream. Every day that I can, I go and play tennis because I want to play at the collegiate level. And even though I haven't played for but 3 years, I believe that I can do it. I adapt quickly and learn fast. I may not talk much, but I sure do listen.
Through tennis, I've learned several things about myself. The world is tough! People are extremely competitive for this sport, and I'm willing to give it my all too. One thing that has helped me is to compartmentalize. I always focus at the task at hand. I give my academics my all as well as tennis, or generally, anything that I do. I want to be a part of a team that is just as willing to give maximum effort towards a common goal: Bringing home a championship.
