For the past year, I have been traveling the world playing ITF tournaments. Doing so has changed me and made me mature and become independent. I believe balancing school with tennis in these sorts of situations has helped prepare me for the college experience. I grew up playing tennis; my father put a racket into my hand as soon as I could walk. He was my mentor, father, and coach. I am very blessed to have that combination of parent and coach as most players do not get that experience. My ideal college is the perfect combination of academics and athletics. As my father is a tennis coach, I remember the day my mother earned her Ph.D., she always encouraged me to never stop learning and to chase my dreams. Tennis continues to teach me valuable life lessons:
The importance of grit
Hard work
Mental toughness
The importance of enjoying the process
Never stop loving the game, as it is a game
Thank you for your consideration,
John "Holland" Snell
