Personal Statement
My name is Ryder Searle, I grew up in a town of 2000 people in Colorado and I started playing tennis when I was 4 years old. My only competition was my father and some older gentleman. I did several tournaments growing up trying to get some competition. The lack of competition in my small town was hard, but I pushed through and played for Durango High School. I went to school in my town, which is Pagosa Springs CO, but I played tennis for Durango High School because my town did not have a tennis team. Durango, CO is an hour away and I would drive over every day for practice and games. I played number 1 singles all 4 years of high school and I went to state 2 of those years. I won regionals my junior and senior year and I got 9th at state my senior year. My freshman and sophomore year I got 3rd at regionals. I am a left handed tennis player and the lack of competition in my childhood was hard, but I am a quick learner and with some more competition I think I would be a great asset to the team. I have a lot of upside to my game and improved competition will be great for me and also your team. I am comfortable playing singles and doubles. I love the game of tennis so much. I had no friends or anyone except my father and mother that played tennis, and the love of the game kept me playing and had me driving an hour away to play tennis. I am very self and team motivated and am willing to do anything to improve and play the game I love.
