I’ve been playing tennis a lot recently, and by recently I mean almost every day for the past twelve years. I’m lefty, so that’s an advantage. I have a good serve, so that’s an advantage. Instead of hitting a backhand I just hit a forehand with my other side, so that’s an advantage. I have not gone more than two weeks without hitting a tennis ball. I bring rackets to my vacations.
I would like to go to college to study physics. I could spend all day talking about Bose-Einstein condensates and Clark gluon plasmas. I'm extremely well-read in the subject. As I sit here writing this I have a pile of thirteen books on physics waiting for me. It was this love for science that compelled me to begin an independent study this year, and to watch thirty-six hours of broadcast lectures at Yale on physics during my free time.
I would like to play tennis in college because it’s the closest I can get to the ATP or ITF while working towards my PhD in physics. I would also like to study philosophy because I have a serious interest in the topic. My overall objective, aside from accessible teachers and captivating learning material, would be a less autodidactic learning experience.
As a side note, I have gathered more than seven thousand hours of volunteering to teach under-privileged children, both on and off the court.
