My name is Kory Carlson. My passion has always been to play collegiate tennis. I have been a multisport competitive athlete since my early youth. I have played advanced level club hockey from the age of 5 thru 15. Hockey has helped me develop a strong team concept along with a fierce will to compete. I have also competed as a club level swimmer and a U.S. Kids tournament golfer. I was a finalist in the U.S. Kids Golf Drive, Chip, and Putt competition in 2016 and an Illinois H.S. state Golf qualifier in 2020.
Tennis has always been my main focus. I have sacrificed other competitive sports at the age of 15 to concentrate on my primary goal to play college tennis. I have played USTA sanctioned tournament tennis since the age of 10 and have trained year round on both hard and clay courts. At St. Francis College Prep H.S. I competed at 1st Singles and was a 2018 Illinois H.S. State qualifier as a Freshman. I recently won the 16 and under 2020 USTA Chicago Claycourt Championships.
I have trained at the Saddlebrook Tennis Academy in Wesley Chapel, Florida for the past 5 Summers 2016 thru 2020. I currently train at Eola Tennis Academy directed by Gus Fernandez [ LSU standout and former ATP player]. Also privately with Paul Pridmore [ Former Illinois H.S. champion and Big Ten Champion].
Scholastically I am a strong student. A Honor Roll 5-8 grade at Elgin Academy. A Honor Roll at St. Francis College Prep. Honors Spanish and AP Psychology. I plan on pursuing a Business career. My strengths are my ambition, persistence and drive.
