Personal Statement
My name is Mario Borovcanin and I am 18 years old. I am 6’2” and weight 170 lbs. I have started playing tennis at the age of 5 and have had constant progress since. At the age of 9 i have played my first tournament and at the age of 12 I have played my first semi-final. I have played several regional semi-finals in different age categories and my current national senior ranking is 22. I strongly believe that my game will improve in the years to come and that I will be better and better every day.
I graduated at 13th Belgrade gymnasium with GPA of 4.6 (5.0). I like science and experiments and I have attended several extra classes of science. I have participated in some regional physics and math competitions and have received several commendations. I would like to study aerospace and aeronautical engineering or computer and software engineering.
I feel that i would be a good and strong player that can help any team due to the fact that i am a very hard working, friendly, positive and responsible person who takes his obligations very seriously. I am dedicated to succeed in my goals to study on the University and play tennis at competitive level. Educational system in Serbia, as well as in the rest of Europe, is not too affirmative to athlete-students. It is practically not possible to play sport on competitive level and to study at the same time like it is possible on US universities. But, the cost for studying at US university is so high, that without full scholarship it would be impossible for me to do so, and to fulfill my dreams of having high quality education and tennis career.
