I have played tennis for as long as I can remember. I've met some of my best friends through tennis, and we've grown up together through our local program. Such an incredible experience in the sport has given me a passion for it that I find difficult to unveil in other parts of my life. Playing tennis my whole life has taught me the benefit of hard work and effort, instilled in me the values of sportsmanship, and showed me that winning isn't always everything. However, of course, being in high school, tennis is not the only part of my rather busy life.
I joined the Boy Scouts of America at the age of 10, and earned my Eagle Scout rank at 16. Participating in scouting allowed me to develop a unique sense of drive, dedication, and honesty that has led me through high school and will continue to help lead me through the rest of my life.
In addition to scouting, I was a prominent member of my local high school marching band, and balancing this season with tennis was no easy task. I had to carefully lay out both schedules and communicate thoroughly with both coaches and band directors to be able to participate in both programs. I had great success in the marching band, landing a student leadership position my sophomore year, and acting as the head drum major for my junior and senior years. Acting as a student leader in the band, along with in scouting, I've also been fortunate enough to grow my leadership abilities, and have become incredibly effective in leading my peers.
As for academics, I simply combine all of the skills that I've learned from tennis, scouting, and band and applied them to my education. I am constantly looking for ways to improve myself and my academic performance. This serves a dual purpose of both my own personal benefit, and to provide my siblings with a good path to follow upon their entrance to high school. I find myself thriving in challenges and puzzles to be solved, or problems that require solutions.
Beyond high school, my dream is to attend a college or university and major in psychology, and continue on in tennis. After graduating, I aspire to be a psychologist for the FBI or CIA in order to not only serve my country, but also to hopefully make the world a better and safer place.
