Personal Statement
"Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships"-Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan, before he became the legend he is today, did not get a spot on his high-school basketball team. However, because he didn't let that setback stop him from working hard, everybody knows him as possibly the best basketball player of all time. Similar to MJ, I am a hard worker and don't give up due to setbacks. I started playing baseball in t-ball and continued playing until 13U. I stopped playing for 5 years and picked up tennis. With only 3 years of tennis experience I reached number 5 in Mississippi. Because of knee surgery I had to stop playing tennis and I picked up baseball again. During junior year, my first season back in 5 years, I batted .438, made no errors in the outfield, and had an on base percentage of over .600. My time back to baseball has reminded me of how great of a sport it is. Due to the amount of team camaraderie within baseball, the friendships I have made are like no other. The slim amount of opportunity a player gets during a game is another reason baseball is so great. I realize that the players who take advantage of the opportunities are the players who work the hardest. I am that player, I am that hard worker. I spend most of my day at school and in the cages or on the field. When I am not doing these three things, you can find me teaching tennis lessons, working in the yard, or studying for school or about investing. Not only will you be receiving a hard-worker, but you will also be receiving an intelligent athlete. I am currently a senior and have had a 3.8 GPA throughout high-school and finished junior year with straight A's. Although I had knee surgery, I am working my butt off to become the best baseball player I can be and will not let it get in the way of reaching my goals. You will be receiving a hard working, intelligent, and resilient athlete if you accept me on your team.
