"Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships"-Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan, before he became the legend he is today, did not get a spot on his high-school basketball team. However, because he didn't let that setback stop him from working hard, everybody knows him as possibly the best basketball player of all time. Similar to MJ, I am a hard worker and don't give up due to setbacks. Having played only 3 years of tournaments I became ranked number 5 in the state of Mississippi in the 16U division. Unfortunately around Christmas during my last year of 16's I partially tore my patella tendon. I had surgery later that summer and missed a full year of tournaments. Due to missing a full year of tournaments and Covid 19 my UTR has dropped from an 8. In the last tournaments I have played I have split sets with UTRs of 8s and 9s. However, I am not letting this set back stop me. When I was recovered enough I started hitting at least twice a day and continued to keep up with my fitness. Now I continue to spend my time playing tennis and working out. When I am not doing these two things, you can find me teaching tennis lessons, working in the yard, or studying for school or about investing. Not only will you be receiving a hard-worker, but you will also be receiving an intelligent athlete. I am currently a senior and have had a 3.8 GPA throughout high-school and finished junior year with straight A's. Although I had knee surgery, I am working my butt off to become the best tennis player I can be and will not let it get in the way of reaching my goals. You will be receiving a hard working, intelligent, and resilient athlete if you accept me on your team.
