Personal Statement
My name is Daniel Ellis I am 16 years old, I live in Valley Stream NY, I am a rising senior at Valley Stream - North High School. I was introduced to tennis at age 6, when my aunt took me to the US Open at Flushing Meadows, it was love at first sight and I have been playing tennis ever since.
Tennis is an individual sport, but it takes a team to make a great player, your parents, coaches, trainers, and teachers all contribute to a player’s development. I have learned that in tennis not everything will go your way and that is what makes this sport so exhilarating, it’s a game of strategy, adaptiveness and a willingness to trust your game and the skills learned in order to win. Being a chess player has allowed me to use those same skills on the court, and although more times it’s not so straightforward, its always an opportunity to learn and grow.
I have learned that being the best is a process that takes time, hard work, desire, dedication, determination, and discipline. These are the skills I bring day in and day out to my practices and to each tournament. As one of the more senior members of my tennis group has given me the chance to become a leader, and the opportunity to motivate and drive success not just in myself but also in others.
These are the strengths that I possess and the value that I can bring to a college tennis program.
I'm really excited to see what opportunities lay ahead for me as I am approaching the end of junior year of high school. I really appreciate your time and thank you for reading my personal statement. If you would like to get in touch with me and learn more about me. You can email me at any time. Thank You
