Personal Statement
Dear Coach,
My name is Oluwaseun “Joseph” Olatunji. I am 19 years old and I am from Lagos, Nigeria and I moved to the United States when I was 15 years old. Tennis is my passion and I am very interested in finding the right institution and coach for me. I am a team player; I will help in any way I can to strengthen the team in practice and in matches. Due to family circumstances, I am looking for a school where I can obtain a full scholarship (or close to it). Unfortunately, my situation requires me to get a lot of financial assistance.
In Nigeria, I was the junior #2 and I have represented my school and my state back home in various tournaments such as CBN Junior/Senior Tennis Championship and Junior Masters (NNPC Chevron). Prior to that tournament, I was chosen by NNPC Chevron for their annual sponsorship, which I received for four years. You can see an article here: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/09/tennis-players-vow-to-take-chevron-chance/
I moved to the United States with a scholarship provided by Bill Adams International Tennis Academy in Pembroke Pines, Florida in 2014 and I stayed there for eight months. At that time, I received a scholarship to attend the South Carolina Tennis Academy in Murrells Inlet, SC. Now I am a freshman at Southern Wesleyan university (NCAA D2) but looking forward to transfer. I have 4 years of eligibility with NCAA and NAIA
My GPA is 3.8. I look forward to hearing back from you and learning more about your program.
