Personal Statement
I have been playing tennis since I was ten years old. Since I first stepped on the court, I have aspired to play at the collegiate level. Playing in college has been a dream of mine ever since I got competitive with the sport. It has been hard to pinpoint a college that can suit me perfectly.
I have a goal to be ranked number one in Vermont and top twenty in New England by the time I am eighteen. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working players and one of the hardest working recruits you’ll find. I put in a lot of time at the gym and on the court, working hard to become stronger than my opponents. I have always gotten along well with my coaches and have tried my hardest to do what is asked. Recently I became the Vermont scholarship winner of the USTA play and sportsmanship award. I have been playing tennis since I was ten years old. Since then I have won 128 championships and I am still going. I was featured on two local news stations when I hit 100 tournament wins because nobody else has done that in Vermont. I play other places as much as I can and I would play more if I could but I have to travel far if I want to play in many USTA tournaments. This coming school year of 2017-2018, I will be the number one player on the number one high school tennis team. My school has won the title for the past six years now and I hope to lead them to another two before I graduate.
In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a high GPA. I am a solid A student, and I take all honors classes and some AP courses as well. I also volunteer at a local elementary school and helped work with the coast guard and army in Civil Air Patrol. I try and help my community when I can. I basically live and breathe tennis. I work at a tennis facility for a racquet technician. I also help teach younger kids at the local facility.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the court. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I want to find a great medical college with a competitive tennis team. I aspire to become a doctor someday but I would like to play college tennis along the way. I hope to be a great role model to all peers and make my parents proud.
