Personal Statement
I first knew I had a passion for running when I was ten years old. My class participated in a race training program at my elementary school. I came in first among the fourth graders in a one mile race. I feel like this experience really triggered my passion and interest for running in which I would continue throughout middle and high school.
As a sophomore, I was greatly inspired when my cross-country team won the region championship. I have done well as an individual; however, my team had never won a region championship in the four years I have been running with them. Winning this meet taught me the value and appreciation of being part of a team. This event also inspired me to better myself for the benefit of my team.
My goals for the remaining years of high school are achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and breaking the state record in the one mile race. I'm looking to join a college athletic program where I can be a valuable teammate and continue to improve my running career.
