My goals for college are to push myself to be the best that I can be and help the team in any way possible. I live in a town of about 500 people where there is no track so I train on the runway around a loop that is roughly 400m. Track is not a school sponsored sport so my parents have to pay my way for meets. Due to this, I have only been to eight track meets in my three years as a high school runner with my first time ever running on a track being at my region meet my freshman year. As a freshman and sophomore I only ran two meets a year with both being at regionals and state. This past year as a junior I was fortunate enough to be able to attend 4 meets with my only losses coming in the 800. I have won the 1,600m and 3,200m state titles the past two years and placed third in the 800 as a junior. There are no other athletes on the team this year so I run by myself (and my dog) every day so I am looking forward to having a team atmosphere once again. My past cross country season ended with a state title as well even after having a mediocre summer of training. My training during the seasons and in the summer usually consist of two to three hard practices a week with a long run on Sundays and the rest filled with easy days. My mileage during the season hovers around the 45-50 mile range with my longest week being 50. This summer is the first time I have really done any strength work with minimal lifting in the past. I feel as though with more mileage and strength that I can improve leaps and bounds above where I am right now. I pride myself in my attitude and work ethic and have no doubts about how that will transfer to the collegiate level. My performance in the classroom is good and I maintain a 4.0 and I am still undecided on a major. I feel as though I have the right skills in and out of the classroom to flourish in any given situation.
