When I think about what is most central to my life, my faith in God and how it influences me daily comes first to mind. My faith shapes the goals I set for myself, the dedication with which I pursue these goals, and how I interact with those around me. I am naturally a quiet person and coaches over the years have said my work ethic, competitive spirit, and teamwork do the talking for me. I am relentlessly competitive and running allows me to both receive real time feedback on how I am doing individually while learning strategies for how to advance my team. I have also enjoyed running head-to-head against my twin brother.
I started running to condition for basketball and quickly came to love my new sport. I noticed how energized I felt during speed drills when my lead kept increasing with each lap. Running as a freshman, I loved the camaraderie with the other runners and learning my role on my team. My sophomore year did not go as planned due to recovering from an injury and the cancellation of the track season. These circumstances motivate me even more heading into my junior season. I believe that in all I do, it is important that I represent myself and my team to the best of my ability and plan to find new success in the coming years.
