My name is Wyatt Hamilton, a junior at Placer High School. My dad got me into both running and mountain biking when I was 3 years old. My passions include working on my bikes and truck, archery, being in nature, and going on camping and backpacking trips. I enjoy doing all my own repairs on my bike and truck and learning how all the mechanical systems work together. Another activity I enjoy doing is archery.
I also enjoy working to keep my good grades up. I have applied my ambition to my course work achieving a 4.0 in middle school as well as a 4.1 in high school so far. I am enrolled in 3 AP classes in total for this year. I am partially rewarded by having achieved the excellent marks I have earned so far. I like working and making progress in learning new things.
In mountain biking, I managed to win the 2018 California State Championship Series, along with pushing and encouraging my teammates in their races. I also won the NICA 2020 high school mountain bike race.
In cross country running I placed 3rd in League last year and have won the first league race this last Saturday the 13th. My biggest achievement however occurred the most recently when I ran a 100-mile solo race in December and was able to get the world record for the fastest 100 miles for a 16-year-old at a time of 21 hours 25 minutes.
My 100 miles exemplified how important it is to have a strong community to accomplish great feats. There were at least 35 people, some of them friends of friends throughout the greater Auburn area that helped volunteer their efforts in helping me accomplish my goal. It was a humbling experience that I will never forget. I was inspired by the town’s efforts helping me with my 100 and decided to put on some local cross country races for the community.
With my cross-country friends, I have been setting up local races for students to run in the past couple of months. We are overjoyed to have the community and students benefiting from our races and being able to get racing experience while there have not been any other races.
