Samuel Willis '11 Recruiting Profile

Update April 14, 2011 Ran a PR in the Mt Sac Friday Night 1600 Invitational 4:16.52. Finished 6th Update Jan 7, Sam Willis Senior, Named to the ALL SCV Cross Country Team. Willis was the top runner for CIF-Southern Section Division II finalist from Canyon. At that meet, he wound up 24th overall and No. 1 on the team, and he was third at the CIF prelims. He was also a force during the Foothill League season, recording top-10 finishes at the first two league meets before finishing fourth at league finals, just .31 seconds off the third-place time.Update: December 3rd, Awards Banquet. I was named MVP for placing first for our team in all league meets this season, for being named All League, and for being a CIF Finalist. Update: Nov 12th. I qualified individually for CIF Finals, my team qualified as well. I finished 3rd in my heat and 17th overall in a field of around 1,600 runners with a Mt. SAC time of 15:28. Update: Nov 4th. Our team qualified for the CIF Prelims. I was named All Foothill League 1st Team. Running has become a major aspect of my life. As I enter my third year of competition, I can proudly say I have been a California State qualifier in 2009 for my high school, cross country team as well as having qualified individually for the CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) in the 1600m in the 2010 track season. I have been honored as being named team captain for two years. I work hard in both the classroom and on the field trying to set a good example for my teammates and hoping to make my coaches and family proud. I dream of being the best athlete and person I can be. I believe that running at the college level is the place where I can continue to push my limits and achieve my dreams.
