Personal Statement
I am relatively new to running - beginning in my freshman year, but it has grown to be a passion of mine, starting with cross country freshman year being the no. 1 athlete on the team and then going on to the track season with the 400 meters as my best event.
As a sophomore, the 800 meters then became my best event and I was second at my league finals to go on to CCS (Central coast section) I am also the anchor leg of our 4x400 meter relay and I like to think of myself as a leader of that team.
I am privileged to run with a team who are a group of highly motivated, team first and service oriented athletes and friends. Together we have an incredible work ethic. We support each other and celebrate our success but equally build and grow from every experience.
These are values that I know will take me through my life. We understand the value of working hard in all that we do - both in our running, academics and friendships. These are for core values that I believe are fundamental to my teenage and adult growth. Both in the success of our athletics but also academically. We know that success is achieved over a length of time and that hard work, over time, will achieve our goals.
In terms of athletics, my most important goal is to help the team in any way I can by scoring as most points as I can to win meets. I hope I can be successful enough to be a team leader and someone that other people can look up to and follow by my example. Another goal of mine is to make it individually to state to prove myself and run faster times than I believed I could have ever run in the past. I want to make it as far as I possibly can and run against the top competition to achieve things other people think are impossible. I hope in some way that what myself and the team achieve can be an inspiration to those that follow and look up to our success.
