Personal Statement
When it comes to my goals in college track, I aim high. I want to represent my country in the Olympics, and I'm willing to do what it takes to achieve that goal. My uncle William Green was on the Olympic team set to compete in the Moscow games, but was denied the chance due to our boycotting the games that year. I would like to make up for this missed opportunity, and this is a significant driving force behind my dedication to track and field. I've shifted between different programs before, going from middle school track and field to a club team and now to high school track. This has helped with my ability to adapt to new coaching routines as I have had to shift from one coaching style to another, which I believe has prepared me to make the jump from high school to college athletics. I've always been a high performing sprinter. I'm the Oakland athletic league champion in the 400 meter dash with a time of 48.73 seconds, which I achieved in 10th grade as one of the few sophomores competing in the California State Championship. This time places me in the top 20 high school athletes in California. I'm also skilled in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.60 seconds, placing me as the second fastest 200m runner in the Oakland athletic league. Track has also led me to develop as a person, teaching me discipline and respect for both myself and others. It has instilled in me a drive to succeed and persevere through obstacles. Because of this, I look forward to continuing to develop both as a person and as an athlete in track and field through the rest of my high school and college experience.
