I began distance running during the Covid 19 Pandemic during 2020. I discovered my love of running from this moment as all of my other team sports were canceled due to the Pandemic. Running helped channel so much of my energy and provided a fulfilling outlet for me during the California shelter in place. Running everyday developed my strength, speed and stamina. I won the Crocker Middle School Hillsborough Turkey Trot in 2019 and kept pushing myself in my middle school pacer tests. I achieved a 104 before school shut down, just 7 away from the School Record. I started high school at Junipero Serra running on the Freshman Cross Country Team. I placed 2nd in the Sunnyvale Baylands Meet in the Bay Area as a Freshman, 2nd at the Westmoor Ram Invational and finished runner up in the Crystal Springs Invitational. During Summer, I participated in the Nike Cross Country Camp at Stanford University. This opportunity challenged me and pushed my running ambitions to greater heights. It was fun training with some of the best runners nationally. It was a great way to meet the coaches, learn new skills and develop my running abilities at the Stanford campus.
In the Fall of my sophomore year, my family had moved to Monterey and I joined the Cross Country team at Palma High School. Having an Olympian as my coach helped with my training, stamina and endurance. It was a great experience running new courses such as Palo Corona and Toro Park and experience new terrain and racing the challenging courses. The school has developed a great platform for further development of my running skills. My coach awarded me the MVP Award for the year on the Varsity Team.
I participated in the Pacific Grove 5K and placed 1st in my age division and 4th overall. I continue to run daily and look forward to running track this Spring with the Palma Varsity Team.
My aspirations for college and the future would be to pursue a business degree and continue my cross country and running development. I enjoy being part of a team and contributing to team success. It is full filling to contribute in a positive and meaningful way. Running cross country has been the greatest fulfillment for me personally during the past 3 years. My academics are also extremely important and I have always strived to do my best in school. I enjoy mathematics, sports data and science. I enjoyed some time in school broadcasting sports results on the HTV channel. I have a strong interest in combining my love for sports in a business capacity as well. I am extremely excited about my college career path and the opportunities ahead of me.
