I believe my diligence makes me stand out as a strong student-athlete. My persistent effort to reach my goals has propelled me in school, sports, and my faith. Most people give up or move to a different task when given a challenge, my drive pushes me forward to finish the task well. Although it may seem impossible or "too long" to accomplish, I do not give up. My tenacity is a defining characteristic.
My father, along with other family members, admire my determination and say it makes them tired just to watch me. I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment and recognize the hard work required to finish on time and successfully. I do not always have to win or be first or even have the most, I set my goals based on where I want to be in the near future. I believe every small accomplishment opens new doors of opportunity.
I'm not one to complain during the process, it only makes it harder to enjoy the hard work and usually ends in defeat. I prefer to focus and keep my attention on the prize no matter how large or small. In track, I set a goal for the day. I arrive on time and give my coaches my complete attention and effort. As a result, I become better than I was the day before. In school, I set a goal per class. I take notes, do my homework, and seek help when I need it. My resolve to achieve my goals also includes taking help along the way. At church, I attend a small group, read my Bible, and pray. My goal is to live and love like Jesus daily.
I will be a great asset to any college because I strive to be better, learn quickly and never give up. Sometimes, diligence isn't something people think is a necessary trait, to me I consider it a defining characteristic: something that makes me stand out from the rest.
