Hello, I am Eric Schulz, entering my senior year at Torrance High School. It is my dream to run in collegiate level and make a positive impact to the team that I join.
I have participated in track events since elementary school. Also, since I was 5 years old, I have joined many other sports, from soccer, basketball, tennis, and baseball. I have always enjoyed the running portion of these sports especially during conditioning. In high school, I decided to join cross country and track teams. I love the challenge and discipline these two sports provide, from having to wake up at 5 am for practice to motivating myself to push through at each race. With my best efforts, my times have improved greatly since beginning of freshmen year. My coach has seen my potential and put me in the varsity track team during my sophomore year. In summer of 2023, I injured my shoulder on my way home from working at my part time job. I was not able to run for 8 weeks. As soon as I was cleared to run again, I worked extra hard to bring my time back. In October 2023, I improved my time by almost 20 seconds from 2022. During 2024 track season, my goal has been to run 800m under 2 minutes. During Spring 2024 track season, I achieved my goal with running at 1:59.95. I have won first place in the 800m varsity race during Pioneer League prelims and finals, and competed in the CIF prelims.
I understand what it is to be persistent and work hard as I am an Eagle Scout (completed in December 2023). I have leadership skills and am encouraging to others. I am a good friend to my fellow teammates and also have a competitive drive that helps me to get to my goal.
