Hi Coach(s),
My name is Kevin (Sean) McClanahan. I am a senior at Erie High School Colorado, and I am very much interested in running Track and Field in college. I attended a parochial school through sophomore year of High School and have always enjoyed running but never competed as my school did not have a Track team. Instead I participated in intramural soccer, volleyball, and basketball. I harbored my love for running at a young age and when I transferred to Erie Junior year I tried out for the track team. After time trials and the first track meet I had run ever run in, I placed 1st in the 4x100, 1st in the 4x200, and 2nd in the long jump with a jump of 19ft 4inches, my coach referred to me as the "Diamond in the Rough".
I continued to improve throughout the term and finished the season at the Colorado State Championships, which was located at Jeffco Stadium. At state, I medaled in the open 100 meters men’s final, the open 200 meters men’s final, and the 4x200 men’s relay, along with being named the boys all region 200 meter representative and finishing all conference.
Alongside of my track and field history, I also excel scholastically and last year received two academic awards. I want to go to a college that has both a very developed and good track team, as well as an academic program that will push me to be great in and out of the classrooms. My main interests are kinesiology and architecture. I volunteer at my church with the Audio Video team and participate in the Operation Christmas Child make a wish foundation as volunteer work. I also have musical abilities (piano) and shared it by accompanying my school choir freshman and sophomore year, as well as providing church worship music during the service.
