My name Duane Eugene McClurkin, I am 17 years old. I was born on September 12, 1997 at Fort Riley military installation in Kansas. I am a hard worker on and off the field with my grades being the first priority, with sports coming in at a high second. I have been playing football, basketball, and running track since the 3rd grade. The ability to play several sports has developed a level of discipline that drives my academic and sports endeavors.
I am a senior at Fountain-Fort Carson H.S. (FFCHS) in Fountain, Colorado. My high school academic curriculums consist of advance honor courses in math. My freshman year GPA was a 2.9. I currently maintain a GPA of 3.1. My goal is to find a school that has a great Engineering program that would suit my academic requirements, as well as my sports. Playing football at the collegiate and possibly the professional levels, would simply be icing on the cake. I fully understand my personal achievements will not come easy. It will take dedication on and off the field.
I spend majority of my off-season at the gym conducting strength, stamina, speed and agility conditioning, always seeking to improve my skills in all sports. My father is active duty military. I am accustomed to moving every 2-3 years, so the transition to an out of state college will not be a challenge for me. I look forward to blazing new trails, so the transition would not be anything I would not be able to manage and adjust to.
As a sophomore, I was on varsity as well as i went to state and placed in the state championship (which we came in 2nd) in highjump and the 4x400 relay as well my junior year which we won state.
Track continues to be a great journey of inspiration that challenges me both mentally and physically. I am a likable person on and off the football field with the mind set to excel in everything that I do. I have grown to understand through sports how important being a team player is in everything you do. With the support of my parents who have set the bar on education high, having being my rock through all my endeavors have instilled in me strong values and provided me with an outstanding upbringing. I’m aware that hard work and commitment will result in me giving my best in whatever I do in life.
