Hello, my name is Ivan Jaxson Liewer. I’m 16 years old and attend school at lake county high school, in Leadville colorado. I was born in North Platte Nebraska and moved to Leadville when I was about 2 years old. I was a very active student through my middle school year playing basketball and football, even soccer. I didn't join track until my freshman year because I didn't know if I was going to be good at it. When I joined I wanted to do jumping events as in basketball my teammates and coaches said I had a good vertical jump. I trained in the weight room and at home to work on my jump and my pr in my freshman year was 5’0. I then knew I could be better if I trained and committed to the sport of the high jump. This summer I worked hard to get my body in shape for my next season. When it came to my sophomore year I was ready to get into the sport of high jump and I was ready to get right into it, On my first meet, I was able to pr by 2 inches. I then started to develop a small injury on my left leg which was the leg that I was currently jumping on. I decided it was time to switch my foot to my right and saw massive improvements, getting another 6 inches. I was then able to get 5’8 on both my left and right foot. I knew that if I could get 8 inches in one year I could make more of an improvement for the next. I think I would be a good athlete for colleges because I'm open to all knowledge and want to improve, I know I could do more if I had the proper training. I love to support the people around me even if the days I have are not the best. I want to be able to make it farther in my athletic career, and I know that if I have the right coach by my side to explain to me what to do to improve.
