Personal Statement
Pole vault has made a major impact on my life throughout my high school career. Ever since I have started pole vaulting I have made friends from all across the state and at all the competitions that I have gone to. I became interested in the sport during my eighth-grade year when I saw a video of a close family friend in her first competition. When my freshman year finally came around I was only able to compete in a single meet before breaking my ankle over spring break.
Even though I wasn't able to compete for the rest of the season, I attended every competition, making friends and learning all that I could so I could come back even stronger in my sophomore year. The sport has taught me perseverance as well as patience as it is a sport that requires as much mental willpower as physical strength. I am looking for a college that will be able to suit me academically, as well as be a good fit athletically. My colleagues are very important to me, as I not only love doing the sport but watching others learn and grow alongside me. Not only will I make a positive impact on your athletic program, but I will stand out for my charisma and positivity as a student, an athlete, and a person.
