Maverik Mertens '22 Recruiting Profile

Things that influenced me the most as a person are my family and my coaches that I have been around. I first became interested in track and field in middle school, but never really enjoyed the sport till my freshman year of high school. My goal academically is to find a college that best suits me for the field that I decided to go into. As I finish my high school career, my goal for academics is to finish with a 4.0 that I have maintained so far. Throughout my high school career in every sport, we have fallen short of winning a title many times and this has thought me about many things about life.  It has taught me to value the characteristics of leadership that I and others have, having a team to fall back on is huge, and that commitment is a major role in the success of anything. I believe the characteristics of my hard work ethic, my quiet leadership, and my perseverance will make me a good fit for your program.
