Personal Statement
Running has been a progression for me and I have withstood the test of patience & perseverance in the sport of running. I’ve had to be patient and look to the end for results and celebrate the small successes along the way. My successes have not always come easy and setbacks as well as successes have fueled my determination and motivation. I have battled injury, late growth, and disappointments on the road to success.
Along with my PR in Cross Country (16:15 5K), my goal in track this season was to develop leg speed and run under 4:30 1600M. My coach challenged me to try the 800M and first time out I ended up in a top state position. I far exceeded my goal and qaulified in 3 events for 5A Colorado State track in the 800m (1:55.85), 1600 (4:24), & 4x800 relay. I was also awarded Legend HS Athlete of the year, and Team MVP.
So much of my body and atheltic development has been achieved by competing in diverse sports through the years (Baseball, USA Volleyball, USA Triathlon, USA swimming, XC, Track) . Often times, I have been asked how do I juggle 2-3 sports at once all the while keeping my GPA at just under 4.0. I have learned to manage my time and be disciplined. It has been instilled into my thinking that multi-sporting would help me build body stability and discipline and eventually lead me to find where my focus and passions would be as an athlete. I have competed on every level - local, state, regional, national levels through the years. I understand the emotional toughness it takes to compete at a high level.
It has all worked together to help me compete as a runner through high school and be successful. My goal, focus, passion, and strength is in the sport of RUNNING. I desire to achieve a competitive distance running opportunity in college.
I’m a tough athlete, (emotionally & physically) and able to handle the load and challenges thrown my way.
