No single event has had a greater impact on my life than track. I have been running almost since I could walk. I knew when I set the elementary school record for the mile in a time of 5:58 in fifth grade that I was destined for a memorable running career.
My mom has been a great influence on me and has persuaded me to pursue running with a passion. She has participated in the Boston Marathon as well as many other marathons; my mom has also completed an Ironman distance triathlon.
I have a great desire to not only push myself to be the best runner, but also to be the best person possible. I am passionate about school and maintaining a high GPA. I am a member of NHS, FBLA, and Boy Scouts of America where I obtained the rank of Eagle Scout.
Track has been a humbling experience for me. My small school barely has the funds to maintain an undersized dirt track. As a freshman and sophomore, I was underdeveloped and struggled to qualify for state. That did not discourage my determination or my work ethic. As my body matured, my times progressively increased. As a junior, I placed in four events; as a senior, I hope to win multiple events at the Colorado State Track and Field Meet. I hope to continue my track career at the collegiate level, develop as an athlete and individual, and contribute to my team.
I also participate in cross country and basketball. My cross country team has won three consecutive state titles. My basketball team has done the same and we are aiming for a fourth consecutive title.
