Personal Statement
My name is Kaleb Mitchell. I am 18 years old. I hope to get my Bachelor's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. I have always enjoyed sports, but my favorite and best is Track and Field. I am a sprinter, in my forth and final year on the Varsity Track team, running mostly the 100 and 200 meter dashes while know and filling in for other events. I am also a long-standing member of my high school Cross Country team. Distance running keeps my momentum up during Track's off season. I have also played Basketball throughout all my school years, but I have recently decided to give that sport up so I can focus on putting much more of my energy into Track. I know my gift is "running", and my strongest chances of obtaining a college athletic scholarship would come from my abilities and successes in Track. I have strong family ties, along with a strong faith and work ethic. I have never followed the crowd; I want to make my own way in this world because life is what you make it. Athletics have always kept me busy, but I don't regret one minute. It's good for kids and teenagers to learn how to count on other teammates, along with learning how to work as a team. I do love individual sports, such as Track and Field. When I succeed at Tracking events it helps to build my self esteem and it gives me more desire to work harder to do better the next time. I should make better grades because I can. I learn very easily, but I do get bored too. I know learning comes very easy to me but if I'm not that interested in the subject, I have been known to turn a deaf ear to it. I am more goal-oriented, meaning I want to major in Civil/Environmental Engineering, so I would more than likely do better in subjects pertaining to that. Math does not freak me out, as it does many students. I do it in my head a lot. Whatever my end goals are I always meet them, and I love a good challenge!
