Personal Statement
I am currently a senior at Ponte Vedra High School where I have completed the Academy of Biotechnology and Medical Research. I have been an honor student for all semesters in high school. I have taken all honors and AP courses. During matriculation at Ponte Vedra, I played football freshman year, but then became more interested in track. I started track and field in my freshman year and earned a varsity letter. I realized cross country would help my endurance and build me up for triple and long jumps and other track events. During my sophomore year I decided to train with the cross country team, but didn't think I'd participate in meets because I didn't think I'd be very good. Well I started running with them and the coach told me to try a meet. It was then I realized I could compete! I actually finished the course and didn't come last. So I officially became part of the team. By the end of the season, I was on varsity. I was named most improved player that year. I continued cross country my junior year. I particularly am interested in the triple jump. Currently I'm the leading triple jumper in my region, having won the Regional Championship and came 2nd in the state with a jump of 47-4. I hope to become 1st in state this year. Although I desire to participate in track and field in college, my first goal is to obtain a good education. I would like to attend a school that has a beautiful campus and is located near a city. I am easy to get along with and desire to meet students from various backgrounds. Currently I'm looking at schools in the northeast, but I'm not limiting myself to any particular region. I realize there's a big world out there. I'm thinking of majoring in psychology. I did a college level course in Psychology last summer and really enjoyed it. However, no matter what my major turns out to be, I will take the necessary pre-med courses to apply to medical school. I plan to become a physician.
