Personal Statement
I was first introduced to running in 8th grade after I had broken my clavicle in basketball twice. I was only going to do running for one year and then go back to baseball the following year and pick back up on being a pitcher and third basemen. After running my 8th grade year I fell in love with track & field because of my coaches and my new teammates I had. Running has a different environment then other sports do due to how it doesn’t matter what place you finish in but the times you have set for yourself. I fell in love with the medals and ribbons and winning but I also fell in love with how close everyone is in running and how you could’ve got last place but still did your best and everyone is proud of you. As of my junior year of track I ran a 2:03.86 in my 800m, a 4:45.47 in my 1600m, and a constant 53 in the 4x4. I am looking forward to breaking 1:59 in the 800m and 4:35 in the 1600m by the end of my senior year and just finished my cross-country season with a 17:21.65 for a 5k. In college I am looking forward to running much faster times running under 1:54 in the 800m, 4:20 in the 1600m, and a sub 15:30 in a 5k. I take my academics very serious and try my best to get the best grades I can. Moving from New York to Florida made my grades fluctuate and change but over the course of time I was able to start to bring my GPA up more and will keep doing so throughout my senior year. In college I have a few options for what I want to do career wise but any path I choose I know I will be successful. In school I have been known as a leader in the classroom and outside the classroom allowing me to be a part of National Honors Society allowing me to help my community more then I could before. I have a part time job that I have to work around nonstop during the week and on the weekends to get my runs in and to stay up to date with all my school work. Being a student athlete has kept me focused and I would like to have that well in college.
