Goals and aspirations
My ambition is to put myself in a position to where I can help others who are in need. What I mean by putting myself in position is being able to gain the education, acquire the tools, and attain success so that I can help myself first, because if I can’t help myself how could I help others? I believe that track can open many gateways for me to better myself and walk a step closer to being able to help others. With enough hard work and opportunity, I have a belief I could compete in the Olympics.
What’s makes me an excellent choice for your team
My coaches have always told me you have a very stubborn persistency. When I start a task, I can’t stop until its finish and I won’t stop improving at it when I know their room for a better result. This is how I have when I throw and it's how I am when on a team, whether it's giving them tips to improve their game staying longer hours to practice more than the other team, I'm always doing it.
What makes me different from other recruits in character, athletics, and academics
My name is Joel Tavis Mack and I'm a 6’1, 180lb track & field thrower. I’ve been competing on the varsity thrower level since my Sophomore year. I am the current the record discus holder at my school (RICS). I have competed in my division sections all three years of my high school throwing career and won my regional competition my Junior year. One thing that makes me stand out from other athletes is the level that I'm competing at. Going into this sport I didn’t know that throwers were usually the very heavy, big set kind of guys, but I have let that distract me from being the best athlete at my sport.
