My name is Nyzaveon Thompson and welcome to my personal statement! My collegiate goals are to earn my Master‘s Degree and then my Doctoral degree for becoming a Sports Therapist and/or Physician. Secondly, more importantly, they are to participate at the collegiate and also professional level and earn multiple NCAA national titles in the sport Track and Field.
Being a Scholar Athlete has taught me I can do multiple things, anything I put my heart and mind to. Things like take AP and Honor classes, playing Football, running Cross Country, running Track and field, Model and Acting, working a job and all that while still maintaining A’s and B’s in my classes. I haven’t always been what you can say a “top prospect athlete”. I had to work to get there and that’s why I’m considered a dependable, coachable athlete, determined to get better at ANYTHING I do. I didn’t think of running hurdles until 10th grade, my 4th year of running track. I started off my first meet with 18 seconds, then at the end of the season at Sectionals, the meet before state, I ended with a 15.24, not making it to state. I had to hurt and work hard to improve in order to get where I am now, and I still don’t consider that good. Not every athlete can do what I do or did, it’s just too much work for them. I even did my first year of summer track with the club D4 Fire Training Group to get better and got my 400HM to a 58.48 while also managing a job and a little of going to football practice. So that’s why I consider myself a better candidate because I’m a great multitasker, overachiever, resilient person, and hard worker.
