Personal Statement
From the moment I won my first 5K at eight years old, I was hooked on running. I love the feeling of competing and pushing myself to be my best, and beating my best time, each and every time. While still early in my school career, running has already taught me so many important life lessons - discipline, hard work, persistence, balance, sacrifice, sportsmanship and teamwork. It centers me, yet pushes me to be bigger than myself.
I'm extremely proud and blessed to be part of the Greater Atlanta Christian School varsity XC and track teams since my freshmen year. The highlight of my high school career thus far has been scoring in every XC meet for my team and contributing to a runner up finish in the 2021 3A Georgia State XC Championships. My freshmen year contributions earned me a spot on the region 2nd team, while I improved in my sophomore season finishing at the top 10 in regions and making the 1st region team in a new classification (2 spots higher than the previous year). In addition, I'm proud to be the GACS middle school record holder in the 3200 - a 22 year old record - prior to breaking it in 2021.
While running is a big part of my life, I'm also very proud of my success in the classroom and my contributions to my community. I have maintained a 3.6 GPA and made the honor every year thus far, while participating in Beta Club, XC, track, tennis and volunteering in my community and church. After finishing 5th at the 2022 Youth Age Group triathlon nationals, I joined a High Performance triathlon team (Multisport Explosion - 3rd ranked in the country) in 2023, where in my first year (and the youngest in the 16-19 age group), I competed in the youth development draft legal division against guys in the Olympic triathlon pipeline. My highest finish was 24th in one of the four national races, but more importantly triathlon cross-training has improved my stamina and speed. I recognize that in order to be a strong and healthy runner long-term, I need the strength and conditioning that other sports can provide. I can't wait to see the impact of triathlon cross training in my 2023 XC season and beyond.
My goal is to join a team where I can contribute to something bigger than myself. I know what it means to be a team player; to support and push each other to be the best we can be. I also know what it means to work hard and to be coachable. I want to absorb everything I can to be a better runner, a better student and a better person. I know I still have so much more in me to learn but I also have so much to give. I am ready to be developed and pushed to new heights. Will you take a chance on me?
